PERFORMED BY CLAIRE JONES, INTERNATIONAL CHART TOPPING HARPIST

AN ALBUM OF CLASSICAL FILM MUSIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOLO HARP

Screen Serenade is a glorious celebration of well loved film and TV themes especially arranged for solo harp by Claire’s husband, percussionist and composer Chris Marshall. Claire’s radiant performances range from commanding torrents of sound to a new, fragile and contemplative quality that Claire brings to music usually associated with the strings, piano and even the full orchestra. Sublimely delicate, yet at times poignant and implacable, Screen Serenade is a delightful album featuring themes such as Jurassic Park, Ice Dance (Edward Scissorhands), Downton Abbey, Cavatina (Deer Hunter), Pirates of the Caribbean, Romeo and Juliet, and E.T.

One of Wales' most outstanding classical talents, Claire became a household name in 2011 following her esteemed performance at the Royal Wedding for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and she also held the position of Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales 2007-11.

Claire Jones made her concerto debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2008, and since then has gone on to perform as a soloist with some of the World's leading orchestras including the English Chamber, Zurich Chamber, European Union Chamber, and a solo appearance with Maestro Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Ballet. Other career highlights include Claire’s concerto tour appearances with Sir James Galway, solo recitals in Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall, concert performances alongside Bryn Terfel, Alfie Boe, Elin Manahan Thomas and Claire Rutter and recordings with Julian Lloyd Webber, Patrick Hawes and James Turnbull.

Claire’s performances were described by BBC Music Magazine as “beguilingly lyrical with a subtle range of hues and colours”, by Gramophone as “splendid artistry” whilst Classics Today comments on her “rich, liquid tone” and “lively sense of rhythm”. Claire’s albums have topped the Classical Charts with both The Highgrove

Suite (2010), and The Girl With The Golden Harp (2012) reaching number three in the classical charts, whilst Journey (2015), released on Silva Classics, reached number 2 in the UK Classical Charts. As with The Girl With The Golden Harp, most of the tracks have been arranged for harp and strings by Claire’s artistic partner and husband, composer / percussionist Chris Marshall. This album reflects Claire’s own journey to

wellness having been diagnosed with ME in 2013. Claire is now fully recovered from her illness, and Journey has inspired many, resulting in sell out shows during the Journey UK tour. Claire is a firm favourite on Classic FM playlists, and her albums have been released worldwide. Her recent US album Royal Harp Strings has been a hit on the Billboard Classical Chart.

Claire has recently been honoured as an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, for her significant contribution to her profession, and is also an ambassador for international jewellery company Clogau, and for the Prince of Wales' Children and The Arts Foundation.

When asked what inspired Claire to record this album, she said:

"I have been in love with film music since I was a child, and have always wanted to create an album which includes my favourite soundtracks of all time. The sound of the harp brings an element of magic and sparkle to these well-known themes, and my dream as always is to bring the harp to a wider audience across the

world".
