Gertrud Huber grew up in Bavaria, not far from the Austrian border.
She completed studies of the zither, the harp, folk music, the hammered dulcimer and jazz clarinet at the Richard-Strauss Conservatory in Munich and at the Nuremberg-Augsburg School of Music.
A highlight of her national and international career was her appearance with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kurt Masur. Two of her most successful CDs have been "Der Weg zum Herzen (The Way to the Heart) – Salonmusik Gertrud Huber" and the London re-production of "The Third Man".
Gertrud Huber played the Alpine harp in the reknowned Toni-Goth-Ensemble for over ten years.
In addition to private instruction, she teaches regularly at seminars for zither and Bavarian folk music. She is a frequent guest lecturer at the Trossingen National Academy (Bundesakademie für musikalische Jugendbildung).
She has won the first prize in the national youth contest for musicians competition "Young People Perform (Jugend musiziert)". Today she is a juror herself for national Competitions.
Huber actively supports the younger musical generation. She is member of the Federal Music Committee for the National German Zither Association (Deutscher Zithermusik-Bund e.V.) since 2012, from 2005 to 2012 National Youth Consultant and an Examiner for the Association of German Music Schools (Verband deutscher Musikschulen).
